Navigate 28District 28 is embarking on a strategic planning effort to help the district update the vision and goals for the education of 1,800 students enrolled at Greenbriar, Meadowbrook, Westmoor and Northbrook Junior High schools.

The project, “Navigate 28: Strategic Planning for Continuous Success,” will kick off with an electronic survey of parents, students, staff and community members from Sept. 15 to Sept. 29.

The Consortium for Educational Change, a non-profit organization that has helped dozens of districts across the state with strategic planning, will work with the district. A Strategic Planning Team that draws representation from a diverse cross section of representation, including parents, staff, board members and administration, will guide the project.

In addition to the survey, there will be public forums from 7 to 9 pm. Oct. 23 and 26 at Northbrook Junior High. The Strategic Planning Team will continue to seek feedback at each step of the process, with the end result a being multi-year plan developed around an updated mission, vision and goals in February 2018.

One of the key components to the CEC’s proposal is establishing a process that ensures the plan comes to life through monitoring progress in reaching goals.

“I am pleased with the process outlined and we will work hard to gather voices of parents, teachers, community residents and students,” said Board Member Michelle Kohler, who together with Tony Forchetti will represent the Board on the planning team.
