The writing of three Greenbriar students was selected for display at the Lambda State (Illinois) Student Literary Awards. Their work was on display during a convention of Delta Kappa Gamma, International, attended by 270 women educators and guests from 71 chapters across the state.

Susan Kaye, a third-grade classroom aide, organized the submission and attended the conference. The display of student pieces is for teachers to view for assignments ideas.

The students received a ribbon and certificate of participation. Fourth-grader Zoe Saperstein said, “I like writing because it’s fun to express my words onto the paper.”

Upon receiving their awards, the students offered advice for students who may struggle with writing.

Third-grader Maggie Gjermano said,  “just use your imagination. Put all your thoughts on paper. You can fix it when you’re done.”

Molly McAnally, also a third grader, offered this advice: “Use ideas from other writers to help you get an idea.”
